Sure I can get online and do all the research I want, and I have, but I want to hear from people who have experience!
Soon we’ll have our chicken coop up and I’m looking for some input into chickens and eggs. We’ll be raising chickens here in North Idaho for eating and eggs and selling eggs locally. The best eggs I’ve had have are usually large green egss, nice big yokes and/or a rich yellow/orange color to them. I’d like to hear from some of you with experience as to which chickens have worked best for you. I can never get too much information on chickens and eggs!!
Thank you!!

We started raising chickens over 10 years ago. I can’t tell you details like an FFA kid could, but here’s what I do know.
Don’t let the kids name them until you know if they are hens or not. You can’t kill a rooster with a name.
Don’t get “meat” chickens for eggs when the kids say, “Oh, but we want to save them from someones dinner table.” These kind grow really fast and will not live very long.
Banties have a bad attitude.
Feed them stuff you would put down the garbage disposal.
Make sure they get enough calcium. You can tell by how thick the shells are.
